Profiles#

A session Time Price Opportunity (TPO), or market profile, that maps how long price traded at each level during each day, marking the Point of Control, Value Area, Initial Balance, and single prints.

What it shows#

Profiles draws one market profile per trading session on the price pane. It splits each session into fixed time brackets (30 minutes by default), gives each bracket a letter, and marks every price that bracket traded through. A row's width is the number of brackets that touched that price, so wide rows are accepted prices and narrow rows are rejected ones. From this it derives the Point of Control (the widest row), the Value Area (the band holding 70% of activity), the Initial Balance (the first hour's range), and single prints (interior levels touched by only one bracket, which mark fast one-way moves).

How to read it#

The Point of Control is the session's fairest price and a magnet on later sessions. The Value Area frames accepted value, and its high and low act as intraday support and resistance. A session that extends well beyond its Initial Balance is trending, while one that stays inside is balancing. Single prints mark thin, one-sided moves that price often returns to fill. A wide, bell-shaped profile is a rotational day, and a thin, elongated one is a trend day.

Settings#

• Display Mode. Draw rows as colored TPO boxes, classic letters, solid blocks, or bins.
• TPO Period. The bracket size, from 15 minutes to 4 hours. The profile is resampled to this, so it does not depend on your candle timeframe.
• Value Area % and Initial Balance. How much activity the Value Area holds, and how many opening brackets define the Initial Balance.
• Session Reset, Tick Size, and toggles. Where each day is cut, the row height, and which markers show.
